Feeding hungry New Mexicans is what we do. The Rio Grande Food Project provides emergency food relief to hungry individuals and families throughout the Albuquerque metropolitan area. Our clients receive a week’s worth of food for the entire household. Last year we served 377,000 emergency meals to 26,720 hungry children, teens, adults, and seniors.
The Rio Grande Food Project is one of the largest and longest operating food pantries in Albuquerque. We distribute food on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 am until 2 pm and on Saturday from 9 am until noon. Food boxes are currently distributed to individuals and families once every two months. Our goal is to increase this to once every month; every pound of food and every dollar donated moves us closer to this goal.
We operate out of an auxiliary space at the Rio Grande Presbyterian Church at 600 Coors NW. Our space now includes a walk-in refrigerator, allowing us to store food longer and to offer more fresh food to our clients than ever before.
