Positive Paws Rescue & Transport facilitates transfers between high kill shelters in New Mexico and out of state animal rescues. We provide a transport van, drivers, crates, vet care and raise money to fund these trips. We rarely take in animals coming from anywhere but high kill NM shelters. We screen receiving rescues to ensure that the animals we transport are going to reputable, compassionate and responsible organizations.
The animals we have for adoption are housed in foster homes in Albuquerque and surrounding areas for a 3 week quarantine period before being vetted and brought to our training/adoption center and thrift store. We provide the medical care and vetting for each animal that comes into our rescue and do our best to ensure animals are healthy, happy and a part of a family. If you would like to meet one of our animals for adoption, please fill out our adoption application or come by one of our many events around the city or stop by our facility located at 1616 Eubank NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. We perform home visits for all adoptions and require an adoption fee and signed contract before the pet is released. We also stipulate in the contract that if for any reason the animal cannot stay with you forever, that it will be returned to Positive Paws Rescue Transport.
In our first year of operation, we saved 676 animals from euthanasia lists all around New Mexico. We are constantly in need of volunteers for transports, fundraising and other special projects. We are constantly in need of fosters to house our dogs and cats for our mandatory quarantine period of 3 weeks. Stop by our facility and we can tell you the many volunteer opportunities we have available.
